Andrea talks about her epilepsy.
You know I always wonder to pick,You have to pick cool people, but you don't. To pick good friends you have to look at their personalaties and how they treat you. What I don't like is when people disrespect you behind your back, someone did that, and they are not my friends anymore, I have been in so many bad postions, I had absoultly no friends and nobody knew who I was. Until I came to this school. But I was afraid nobody will expect me by who I am because last summer I was diagonas with a medical condition called seizures. I have Epilepsy.First lets start with seizures.A seizure is a sudden surge of electrical activity how a person feels or acts for a short time. Some seizures can't be seen by the human eye. The thing that causes Epilepsy is that thers a fine balance in the brain between factors that restrict it and there are also systems that limit the spread of electrical activity.Durning a seizure, the limits break down and abnormal electrical discharges spread to whole groups of neighboring cells at once. Epilepsy is a neurological condition, which effects the nervese system. Know as a seizure disorder. The word epilepsy does not indicate anything about the cause of the persons seizures. In a seizure there is a beggining, middle, and an end. The symptoms are deja vu, unsual sound, smell, and taste, visual loss or burning, racing thoughts, stomach, strange, tinglingfeelings, dizziness, headache, lightheaded, nausea. Some seizures come without no warning. You can develop epilepsy at any age. Some seizures make you sick a lot. Epilepsy is a disorder of the brain and nerve-cell function that may or may not be associated with damage to brain structures. I have been taking therapy on horses and it has been helping me a lot. It affects me because sometimes I blackout or frezze and sometimes I don't know what happens before or during my seizure. I had to go through so many tests. The tests were an MRI and EEG. A EEG is a test In which wires are attached to your scalp and records your brain waves.I also have ADHD and Ashma. It was hard for me to fit in since then. But by the support of Mrs.Sanfilippo, Mrs.Mundo,Mrs.Casher,Mrs.Brocksmith,Mrs.Gordon,Nurse Tina, Mrs.Kendall and my family they helped me through out the school year. Also I had a huge support from my good friends Nathan Higgins, Jillian M, and Kayla Jones. I never knew that there was a school that would treat me as an actua human being. I have been disrespected and not treated right at public schools. But I know now switching to a charter school was the best choice I ever did. I was afraid to tell people about my real self because I thought I wouldn't be treated right. I am a person to and I have a right to be like everyone else. The truth is that sometimes I cry because my life is so hard and I want a normal life. The one who inspired me to do this is Victoria Apracio because when she wrote about her condition it inspired me to write me about me.As Norman Vincent Peale said"The secrect of achivement is to hold a picture a successful outcome to mind."
